Jean Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro

Type:
Movie Directors

Jan Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro should make more movies. They are just the kind of movies I love.

Everything is fine tuned to perfection, he casts fantastic actors and the colours... the music.. the stories..

I'm just after watching Micmacs by Jean Pierre Jeunet and it automatically went on the list of my absolute favourites (and took a rather high spot) along with La cité des enfants perdus (directed with Marc Caro) and Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain. Out of all movies that he directed I only didn't like Un long dimanche de fiançailles, but it was only the story I didn't like much, with all the rest (shots, colours, music and cast, as mentioned before) spotless.

There are a few of his movies that I haven't yet seen, but I vow to fix this as soon as possible... Still, Jean Pierre Jeunet only made eleven movies that I know of and Marc Caro made twelve of which four they did together. That leaves me only with nineteen movies, of which I saw five so just not enough of pleasure.

I swear people with talent like they have should exercise it much more frequently and they should work more and harder and produce, produce, produce. Otherwise what will I watch? There's only so many times one can watch Amelie.

Inetesting scrap note with a Bones quote

I'm de-cluttering. Today I went trough some of my long forgotten scraps of paper that I pile up in a box on my desk. One of them read: "Is that a cartoon rendering of a penis in your book? Why is it talking?". I left me puzzled. Funny, but it's been so long that I couldn't remember where it was from....

The Ninth Gate

I don't remember when was the first time when I saw The Ninth Gate. I remember I liked it a lot. I remembered the plot rather well and even then - and it must have been at least eight years ago - I realised that it was very good.

Recently I saw it again. I was surprised how much more I appreciated it this time... Somehow I saw more, understood more and felt more in touch with the movie. It could be perhaps that I researched old books in the last few years and started to be interested more in the old bookbinding techniques and could really see how precious and valuable the books in the movie were. It could be my increased knowledge of the supernatural. It could be as well the fact that it's been a while since I saw Johnny Depp in a serious role or that I know now who Frank Langella is. Or that for the first time I saw it without subtitles and frankly, I didn't need them, even for the bits in French.

Brief Interviews with Hideous Men.

I got my hands on this movie by sheer accident. It was just lying there for months. I watched it today.

The Fall

I'm off to watch Tarsem Singh's The Fall (2006). Review to follow soon :>

The Wolfman

I went to see the Wolfman today. Generally a "lovely" movie with some nice action and CG.
